Marble is one of the most beautiful stones. They are usually used as flooring materials or for walls. There are variants of them, but all are derived from metamorphic rocks.
Marble shows class and elegance. They also give a cozy feel in a home. As much as marbles add beauty and artistic flair to a home, some of their downsides should also be considered. For instance, their tendencies to scratch when stones or even sands are run over them. Likewise, marbles are able to conduct heat away from a body, hence always cold. One might need to put on socks or slippers (which should not be worn outside to avoid sands) when indoors.
The level of cleaning required in order to maintain marble tiles is also important. Damp mopping should be done on a regular weekly basis to remove dust and dirt. Also, one should be ready to attend to spills immediately because marble stains easily. Their hardness is a good thing as it signifies longevity. However, in a home with many breakables, anything knocked over is likely to break.
Many often have difficulty in differentiating marble from granites because of the similarity in appearance. A major difference is that granite is igneous rock. But in looking closely, one may be able distinguish them – granite has a grainy or speckled look, whereas marble has fine lines running through it. Also, granite is harder, more resistant to scratches, and burns than marble
The qualities of marble should be considered before making a commitment to it in flooring the house. Marble tile has many good features, including its durability, hardness, easy cleaning, and beauty.
