Dams in Nigeria

Nigeria is blessed with various natural resources in form of water bodies which has been used by man to generate other means of power like electricity. Imagine there was no river, ocean, sea or lake in Nigeria- How does that idea make you feel? Seems odd right. A dam is a barrier constructed to hold back water and raise its level, hence, forming a reservoir used to generate electricity or serve as a source of water supply. A popular dam in Nigeria is the Kainji dam at Niger state, Nigeria. The Kainji dam was built in the year 1964 and 1986. Kainji dam is most popular as a source of power- hydroelectricity.
