EDPA continues re-certification exercise

The Edo Development and Property Authority (EDPA) has commended residents in some of its estates for the level of compliance recorded during its ongoing recertification exercise and also warned others to comply with the exercise to make way for development in the estates. The recertification exercise, which kicked off in November 2017, continued in EDPA estate in Ugbowo, on January 8. It is aimed at building an up-to-date database of occupants in the estate, identifying illegal occupants and to provide data for the revamp of some of the estates.

The administrative secretary, EDPA, Mr. Anthony Erameh said that the agency has recorded impressive turnout in some of the estates, even as some residents are yet to comply with the exercise. According to him, an exercise was carried out at  Iguosa Estate before the Christmas holiday about 70 percent compliance was recorded on the recertification exercise. Also, at Andrew Wilson Estate, over 90 percent compliance was recorded. The exercise at BDPA, Ugbowo Estate is still in progress. He also added that at Oregbeni about 50 percent compliance was recorded. According to him, the exercise didn’t meet some of the people at home initially and when we met some of them, they did not cooperate with the staff  although some people say they don’t see any reason for the recertification, we have asked them to comply with this exercise because it will not only provide us with data to work on the estates, it will help in securing their ownership of their property in the long-run.
