Housing As A Veritable Tool For Economic Recovery

The Association of Housing Corporations in Nigeria (AHCN) is holding a national workshop tagged “Housing as Veritable Tool for Economic Recovery”. The workshop which is on-going and set to last for two days is geared at providing solutions to the countless challenges the housing sector is facing.

The event, which started yesterday and will be ending today, is holding at the Pyramid Hotel, Kaduna and will provide a forum for careful consideration of the challenges of housing deficit and affordability issues with a view to appropriating workable funding mechanism that will assist to reposition mass housing provision as veritable tools for economic recovery.

The theme of the two-day events is ‘Tackling Housing Deficit And Affordability Challenge as Channel for Driving Economic Recovery’. Participants would be drawn from the entire housing and construction sector of the economy.

It will also examine a pragmatic approach to resolving housing deficit and affordability with a view to proffering sustainable ways of actualizing provision of affordable mass housing delivery as a viable tool for economic recovery.

The resource persons at the workshop include Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria; Mr Femi Adewole, the Managing Director of Family Homes Funds Ltd; Ugochukwu Chime, the President of REDAN, and Mustapha Zubairu, Head of Niger State Government Smart City Development; amongst other speakers.

The workshop is expected to end with the Council meeting of the AHCN tomorrow where other issues relating to the development of the housing sector especially the adoption of funding mechanism for the construction of proposed mass housing in all the states of the federation to be embarked upon by the Association would be discussed.
