Most of the residents are Eleko indigenes who are low-income earners. There are also a few middle-class Nigerians who live here. The neighbourhood is fast developing due to the plan of the new Trade Zone and the new Dangote Refinery to be located there. This will make Eleko a hub of the rich and possibly the upper and middle-class Nigerians in a few years. The area being dominated by indigenes makes a very peaceful and supportive neighbourhood to live in. 

There are a good number school, religious centres including churches and mosques located here. Eleko offers one of the best real estate opportunities in Lagos. The neighbourhood is partly serene, There is a major fun spot here which encourages fun activities like sports, swimming, fishing and hiking due to the presence of the popular Eleko beach.
