Jos South is one of the 17 local government areas in Plateau State, Nigeria. It is located in the central part of the state and its headquarters is located in the city of Bukuru, which is a suburb of the state capital, Jos. Jos South has a land area of approximately 271 square kilometres and is bordered by Jos North, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom local government areas. According to the 2006 national census, Jos South had a population of 458,126.

Some notable places of interest in Jos South include the Jos Wildlife Park, which is a natural reserve that is home to a variety of wildlife species such as baboons, monkeys, and crocodiles.

The National Museum of Jos, which showcases the rich cultural heritage of Plateau State, is also located in Jos South. Jos South is home to several educational institutions, including the Plateau State Polytechnic, which is located in Barkin Ladi, and the Federal College of Education, located in Pankshin. There are also several primary and secondary schools scattered across the local government area. In terms of infrastructure, Jos South has a well-developed road network, and the Jos-Bukuru metropolis is served by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) for electricity supply. The local government area also has a police command and a fire service station.
