Wase is located in the southern part of Plateau State and shares borders with Taraba State to the east, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area to the north, Kanam Local Government Area to the west, and Langtang South Local Government Area to the south.

According to the National Population Commission, Wase has an estimated population of 260,886 people as of 2021. Wase has several primary and secondary schools.

The area is also home to the Federal College of Education (Technical), which is located in Pankshin.

The region is renowned for its mining activities due to a high concentration of lead, zinc, tin and other minerals. This has attracted considerable interest from Chinese investors who have constructed a few local bridges and other infrastructure close to Wase’s mining sites, although these services have not always reached the local community
