CELEBRATING THE BEST- AFRICAN REAL ESTATE CONFERENCE & AWARDS (AFRECA’19)
The 2019 edition of the African Real Estate Conference & Awards took place on August 28, 2019 at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. Real estate stakeholders, investors, professionals and enthusiasts from all walks of life were present. This year, the event focused on ‘Bridging Investment Gaps in Africa’s Real Estate Markets for Sustainable Growth’, and it was an excellent opportunity to tackle the African real estate sector’s setbacks.
Fikayo Ogundipe, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of PropertyPro. ng kick-started the conference by giving a welcome address. In his speech, he talked about the basis on which the African Real Estate Conference and Award was formed. Introduction remark was also given by the Lagos State Governor represented by The Commissioner for Housing in Lagos State, Mr. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai.
The dedicated stream of sessions featured discussions about innovation in the real estate industry and ways to optimise and restructure real estate investments in Africa amongst others. Each panel discussion saw the light oftop-level real estate professionals from different sectors. One of the panelists at the event, Femi Akintunde, Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Mead Facilities, stressed that the admittance of technology in the real estate sector, initiated the provision of quality data to make quality decisions.
The Chairman of Eximia Realty, Hakeem Oguniran highlighted that proper planning right from the beginning; the design stage is highly required. The Chief Executive Officer Novare Equity Partners Derrick Roper; Leye Taiwo, Founder of Troloppe Property Services; Kunle Awolaja, Chairman of African Real Estate Society, and Chinwe Ajene-Sagna, Head of Business Development of Rendeavour amongst a host of eminent personalities all gave noteworthy contributions.
Building on the success of the 2018 edition, this year’s conference provided answers to some of the most pressing questions in the
real estate sector and examined more than just market conditions.
The Commissioner for Housing in Lagos State, Mr. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai explained that bridging housing deficit is not a sole responsibility of the government due to the huge investment required and urged the private sector to contribute as well
