Agege is one of the most popular areas in Lagos. It is a local Government Area and it is in proximity with Dopemu, Ikeja, and Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. One of the most popular landmarks in Agege is a campus of Lagos State University. National Youth Service Corps Permanent Orientation Camp in Lagos is also located at Iyana-Ipaja Road, Agege.  The neighbourhood is the hub of the popular Aluminium Village which connects with the popular Abeokuta Express road.

Agege is mainly residential with a few commercial hubs. There are schools, hospitals, banks, churches and mosques in Agege. Properties on roadsides are mainly commercial. Most of the houses in Agege are old. The road network in Agege is good as the major roads are well laid out. However, there tends to be heavy traffic in the neighbourhood during rush hours. There are street lights on the roads in some areas in Agege. The major neighbourhoods in Agege are; Mulero, Oko-Oba, Oke-Odo, Cement, Capitol, Pen Cinema, Orile Agege, and Iju Ishaga among others.

The bubbly aura Agege offers can be felt in Oko-Oba hence there are lots of interesting places to visit within and outside the area. The city has in recent time become a strategic location for most leisure and hospitality centres. There are also a number of markets and shopping outlets in this area.
