The LGA headquarters is located in Ndeaboh, and the LGA comprises of several towns and villages including Agbogugu, Amankanu, Umuawulu, Umuawulu-Orba, Obeagu, Okpanku, and others.

The population of Aninri LGA was estimated to be about 154,239 people as of 2006, and the predominant ethnic group in the area is the Igbo people. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people of Aninri LGA, with yam, cassava, and rice being the major crops cultivated.
