Real Estate: Key To An Enjoyable Old Age.

Have you ever thought about investing in real estate? This could be land, residential buildings or commercial buildings. One thing we know is that Real Estate is a key to an enjoyable old age. Some people might ask how? Let’s give you an insight into this.

As children who grew up in Nigeria, we most likely listened to my parents discuss Land matters and complain often about how greedy “Omo-Onile’s” are. Most of the land sellers at that time were uneducated, and money-hungry people. And most people feared buying land, in fear of losing it to these Omo-Onile or even the government.

The older generation who could not buy land then, find it hard to buy one now, because of how high the rates are.

Some time ago while looking for a hostel to stay in, my mother and I had found a place around the school environment and were going to check it out. I realised she was upset and thought maybe I was the problem. I finally decided to ask her what was wrong and she said something that stuck, “Your father is too stubborn for his own good, I told him years ago to get some plot of land in this very area years ago, it was still cheap then, but he didn’t listen. If we had gotten one here at the time, we’d have something to rely on now.”

Now it is popularly known as Real estate, this is proof that the world revolves. We start to accept that things that used to be ordinary or seemingly unnecessary can take new turns shortly.

Real Estate is Land and any property attached or thing attached to it. Be it natural or man-made.

Why Invest?

Land definitely appreciates and never depreciates. The more exposed the area, the more profit a person is bound to make. Having land or property is a means of passive income. Even better, it can be leased, rented or sold but one thing is certain, the amount you spent buying a land/property or building one, is not the same rate you sell or give it out. You get back your money with returns.

The good news is this, no one is too small to be a landowner or to invest in real estate. In fact, it is made easier, there is now security for potential buyers, and opportunities for instalment payments. There are so many legitimate real estate companies around, all you have to do is ask the right people questions, do your research properly and you’re good to go.

With real estate, retirement is sweeter, because it is a well-structured cushion that definitely pays based on your preference. It can also serve as heritage, handed down from parent to children. Parents can, in fact, invest money into real estate for their children, even toddlers.

Suze Orman said, “Owning a home is a keystone of wealth, both financial affluence and emotional security”. Winston Churchill also said, ” Land monopoly is not only monopoly, but it is by far the greatest of monopolies….”

Personal belongings are nice and necessary, but Real estate is compulsory.

So have you invested in Real Estate? Are you prepared for retirement?
